Meet the young Malayalee actress Anupama Parameswaran, who has wowed Telugu audiences with her expressive eyes and mesmerising smile. Foraying into the cine world with Alphonse Puthren’s Premam (Malayalam) in 2015, she talks about her journey in the midst of her tightly packed ‘Tej I love you’ promotional tour.
“My friend Archana approached me with a crazy request, she wanted to upload my pictures in response to a casting call on FB.”
While Anupama Parameswaran initially refused, thinking it would be pointless to compete amidst lakhs of enthusiasts her friend’s persistence led Anupama to give in. A few crazy selfies were sent and forgotten about, and a few days; later, as she sat with family at the dining table, she got a call asking her to audition for a role in a movie. It was then that she told her family about the FB casting call, and all that followed. “Initially, my father was furious but eventually, he cooled down and agreed to the audition one condition. He said that if I was selected, he would allow me to work only if he was satisfied with the scenario and team that I would be working with.” Everything else fell in place for Anupama, who was soon acting for her first film.
“There is a big love story between me and Visakhapatnam, and it’s called ‘Vunnadhi Okate Zindagi’.”
That was when Anupama Parameswaran spent about a month here, with most of the scenes in the movie shot in Vizag. Staying in a hotel by the beach she enjoyed the views, atmosphere and food, even the roadside food! Though most of the places she visited were shooting locations, she did manage to visit a park and chill by the beach. Falling in love with the cool movie-set that was constructed about 3 meters into the sea, she still remembers it vividly. Sharing that she loves the city and feels very happy here, she adds that she always looks forward to coming back to Vizag. And when we prompt her about ‘true love’ in her life, she happily states, “Yes, I am in love, with my little puppy, Whisky! We have a special bond!”
“The scripts that I have been receiving are really nice and God willing, I am quite busy with them.”
Explaining her spree of Telugu movies, Anupama Parameswaran clarifies that it is the script which attracts her more than the language. An actress who enjoys various genres of movies, even thrillers, she shares that the script matters the most. Her next venture is again a Telugu movie with Ram titled ‘Hello Guru Prema Kosame’.
