Andhra Pradesh Government Bags Three Awards At The e-Governance Conference

The AP government bagged three awards at the recently held e Governance conference in the city. At the 20th National Conference on E Governance, the state government scored gold for re-engineering their loan charge model, Aadhaar linked PDS and cashless payments.

They won for excellence in government process of re-engineering in the loan charge creation model, outstanding creation of Aadhaar linked public distribution system and Aadhaar linked cashless payments. The entries from the state of AP were chosen amongst 261 other entries from almost all states of India, NGOs, federation and cooperative societies. There were 12 identified themes and 20 selected teams were given awards.

At the conference, Raghunatha Reddy, Information Technology Minister, stated that Andhra Pradesh’s aim was to be a knowledge hub and that the government had initiated a lot of policies to help IT entrepreneurs, some of them being – IT policy, start-up policy and innovations policy.

Reportedly, it is the CM’s vision to have atleast one e-literate in every household and one e-entrepreneur in every family. The E-Pragati project that brings together all the departments under e Governance will be completed by the end of this year. The IT Secretary gave a presentation on the CM Core Dashboard

and said that it was created to give the CM an opportunity for 24 x 7 real time governance.

He stated that the AP government was making use of technology to ensure ease of life for people. They were investing money and human resources in data analytics and IoT (Internet of Things). Suresh Chandra, Secretary, Ministry of Law, pointed out that there was a need for change in the law to keep up with the changing IT world.

We have the largest biometric database in the world and now it needs to be utilised properly. This will serve as the main tool to pass on benefits to the beneficiaries in the rural sector and the chances of fraud is minimal,” said the Chairman UIDAI, J Satyanarayana, who also pointed out that Rs 7000 crore has been spent on this project.
