Chandrababu Naidu recently announced that the AP government plans to launch an app called – AP Purse. The aim is to ease the problems people of the state face due to demonetisation. “I want to make Andhra Pradesh he first state in the country in the adoption of cashless transactions,” he said.
The CM and his team aim to be the first people in the country to ease along people into switching to cashless and digital transactions completely. He is also planning to distribute free smartphones to the economically backward people for the same. He urges people to understand that the problems faced now due to the demonetisation are only temporary and that the move is beneficial in the long run. He also urges people to make effective use of their debit and credit cards along with mobile currency and RuPay cards.
The AP Purse app will launched soon in the coming days. He has appointed four committees to look into the crisis being faced by the state due to demonetisation. He has further announced that by Demember end, villages will go cashless and by January next 2017, all the cashless districts should be declared. Awareness programmes will be conducted about mobile and online banking in the meanwhile. Chandrababu Naidu will head the five member panel that will study the effects of demonetisation on the country.
Here’s four things you need to know about the AP Purse.
1 – AP Purse is an Android app. It compiles various mobile payment apps and tools that people can use for digital transactions.
2 – AP Purse consists of 15 mobile wallets and payment getaways like Paytm, MobiKwik, PayUmoney, Freecharge, JioMoney, SBI’s Buddy, OlaMoney, Aitel Money, Vodafone m-pesa, Idea Money, Oxigen Wallet, Citrus, Icash and ItzCash.
3 – After downloading from the Google Play store, the AP Purse asks for your name and mobile number. It will then ask access to install the 15 payment apps that can be used to pay utility bills & property taxes, purchase goods and transfer money.
4 – The AP Purse educates its users on the benefits of cashless transactions and safety precautions to be taken during these transactions.
The Telangana government is also geared up to launch an official mobile wallet soon. Telangana CM KCR stated that they will make it easier for people to transact with the government. He said, “The states that go cashless earlier will stand to benefit more. We have no other option but to shift to online and mobile transactions.”
