AP PGECET 2017 was conducted by Andhra University from May 10 to 12, 2017 to grant admission in courses such as M.Tech, M.Pharma. and Pharm.D. in various colleges and institutes across Andhra Pradesh.
The test contains 120 questions of one mark each. Candidates must secure a minimum qualifying score to qualify the test, which is 30 marks for the general category. This year, a total of 32,323 candidates applied for Andhra Pradesh PGECET while 29,012 appeared for it.
AP PGECET 2017 saw a high qualifying percentage. Out of the total 29,012 candidates that appeared for the test, 26,577 have qualified, thus making an overall percentage of 91.6%.
The percentage stood even better for engineering candidates. 23,565 candidates appeared for engineering test, out of which 22,133 candidates qualified, thus making a pass percentage of around 93%. The rest of the candidates which appeared for Pharmaceutical exams delivered a pass percentage of around 83%.
In the engineering exam, male candidates dominated as 14,850 male candidates appeared for the exam, out of which 13,938 qualified. On the other hand, there were 8,709 female candidates out of which 8,171 qualified. The efficiency, or the pass percentage of both the categories around 93%. So even if men were in larger numbers, the pass percentage remained almost same.

The number of male candidates appearing in the test was 2,257, out of which 1,816 qualified. Women showed a better pass percentage of around 86%, where the figure for males remained 80%.
An important fact is that 6 candidates from the third gender also appeared for the engineering exam, out of which 4 qualified as well. However, no third gender candidate appeared for the pharmaceutical exam.
AP PGECET covers 27,300 M.Tech seats under it in 365 colleges. The number of seats for other two courses is 2,787 in 81 colleges.
AP PGECET grants admission to courses such as M.Tech, M.Pharma, and Pharm.D. But candidates should know an important thing that almost all the colleges under AP PGECET also accept GATE and GPAT scores.
Moreover, preference is given to the candidates who have good scores in GATE and GPAT. So candidates with good scores in these tests will have a better chance of getting admissions as compared to those who appear for AP PGECET.
So the question is, who all shall take it? First of all, the candidates who have not appeared for GATE/GPAT but want to take admission in Engineering/Pharma course in colleges of Andhra Pradesh must take it. As you have not appeared for the national level tests, this is your chance to get admission to desired PG College.
Also, candidates who appeared for GATE/GPAT but did not get a score which can land them in colleges of Andhra Pradesh should appear for this exam. You might not have performed well in the first instance, but you can surely make a comeback here.
