The state government had reportedly allotted Rs 500 crore for the sake of development of tourism in Andhra Pradesh. Rs 200 crore worth projects have materialised in the state and the rest are in the pipeline. Plans have been drawn up to make Vizag the capital of AP Tourism.
The AP Tourism Development Corporation Chairman V Jayaram Reddy did a SWOT analysis of 60 development projects in the state at the Regional Investors Meeting. The meeting was organised by the APTDC and the AP Food Processing Society. The Chairman stated that industrialists are the key to the state’s development and the state government has been welcoming towards the industrialists who want to invest in the tourism sector. He invited industrialists to invest particularly in Visakhapatnam too.
The state government has sanctioned Rs 70 crore to develop Kakinada beach, Rs 60 crore for Nellore and Rs 40 crore for Amaravati. He acknowledged the food processing sector as one of the most important factors for development of the tourism sector. Managing Director of Tourism Development Corporation Girija Sankar stated that it is their aim to make Vizag to be the capital of tourism in Andhra Pradesh.
Madhurawada, Yendada, Parawada and Thotlakonda will be the areas in focus for investments related to tourism. The MD also welcomed investors to invest in Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam. District Collector Pravin Kumar stated that the tourism sector will play a crucial role in the development of the state. He guaranteed that his administration will handle the tourism proposals in a speedy and transparent manner.
