The passengers of an APSRTC bus in Vizag thanked their lucky stars when the vehicle missed a major accident by a whisker on Monday. With the brakes of the bus failing, the driver had to ram it into a nearby road divider in order to bring it to a halt. The move not only saved the lives of the passengers but also made sure that no other casualties were caused in the area.
Going into the details provided by the one town police, the bus numbered AP Z 3178 had a malfunction in its brakes around 1.20 PM near Purna market in Vizag. While the driver tried hard to bring the bus under control, the vehicle couldn’t be stopped until he chose to hit a nearby road divider, thereby preventing a major accident in the area.
Being considered to be a wise decision, the move safeguarded all the passengers from any further consequences. However, in the process, the bus hit an autorickshaw and damaged its rear parts. Also, two individuals in the autorickshaw were minorly injured and taken to KGH for treatment.
While the area where the incident took place generally tends to be bustling with people during the rush hours, the police said it was fortunate that the road was sparsely populated when the event occured.
A case has been registered for the same and the cops are investigating it to gain further insights.
