They say when you make a lot…you should always give some back. Certain people prove these words with action!
IT supremo Azim Premji has given away almost half of his shareholding in Wipro, India’s third largest exporter of software services, towards philanthropy. The billionaire founder has given away an additional 18% of his stake in the IT company for charity. Thereby, providing a 39% company stake (worth Rs 53,284 crores) to his charitable trust – Azim Premji Trust. Mr. Premji, 69, is also the first Indian to sign the Giving Pledge, sponsored by billionaires Warren Buffett and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates to invite the world’s wealthiest to donate a majority of their wealth to charity.
Yo! Vizag is really proud of Mr. Azim Premji and his gesture. We wish him lifelong happiness and good health.
