Band of the month – Kairoz

“When we started off, the music seen was pretty slim in Vizag. You’d rarely see a band playing anywhere. I guess that’s changing slowly with solid bands coming up and blues spiking an interest in the crowds.”

Starting as a 5 piece band initially venturing in metal and alternative rock, they simmered down to a 3 piece band, and eventually evolved into a band of 4, of a blues and rock n’ roll scene. With Samuel J Benaiah on drums, Samir on lead guitar, Johanan on bass guitar, Paul on the keyboard, and great affinity for being on stage, the group of graduates established themselves after winning the Vizag Rock Fight in 2011. They often collaborate with vocalists like Maria Bulavina for performances.

On EDM:

“We aren’t against any genre of music, but EDM is definitely not our cup of tea. For us, as a band, we feel like necessity to hear instruments in the music we listen to or make but that’s just us.”

Watch out for:

Their first album- One Last Chance is currently out in stores. It’s a good listen for anyone whose groove is blues. They can also be spotted playing live music at Novotel on Wednesdays and various cafés around the city.
