Some gusty winds and momentary showers have been greeting Visakhapatnam for the past few days. While some areas experienced a decent amount of rainfall, others witnessed mild showers pass over them.
Accounting to these weather conditions, there have been rumours doing swift rounds over the past few days, frightening the Vizagites of another cyclone. After the bitter experiences left behind by Hudhud, the citizens of Visakhapatnam, quite understandably, are in no mood to breathe easy over any such news.
However, it can be confirmed that there’s no need for panic. Our office got in touch with the officials at the Cyclone Warning Center to get the latest updates on the weather. The officials have informed us that there’s a depression that has formed in the Bay of Bengal and is currently located at 110 km east of Visakhapatnam and 185 km south-southwest of Gopalpur in Odisha. The depression, the officials said, will cause rainfall in coastal Andhra in the coming 24 hours. It has also been learned that some isolated areas in the districts of Srikakulam and Vizianagaram are expected to be lashed with some heavy showers. They added that the wind speed will be around 50-55 kmph gusting to about 65 kmph.
The officials reassured that there’s nothing alarming and the people need not panic.
