“I had lived in Vizag for more than a decade before I shifted to Bengaluru to do my Master’s in Business Administration. As is the case always, time flew by and I found myself tussling with a job while living the typical bachelorette life. Whilst I was going with the flow, a call from my parents back home had the dialogue, “Beta, You have been in Bengaluru for quite long now. We would want you to think about shifting back to Vizag and live with us for a few years before you get married.” – And as they say, nothing works when emotion strikes and before I knew it, I found myself with my parents back in Vizag.
Shifting back to Vizag was a huge change for me. I hardly had any expectations from the city because even during my tenure in Bengaluru, I hardly visited Vizag just 2-3 times in 5 years.
Before visiting Vizag again, I had an image of the city consisting of the same old eateries and places and expected that nothing might have changed in a span of 5 years. But much to my pleasant surprise, Vizag had grown way more than that
Starting from eateries, there were so many cool cafes that had opened up around the city. Being a foodie, I was surely super excited to try them all. And yes, I was surprised to see the variety of things that had come up in Vizag.
I remember coming to Visakhapatnam after HudHud cyclone when everything in the city seemed shattered. But now, it seemed like no such cyclone had ever hit the shores of Vizag. The whole stretch till Rushikonda still looks spellbound. Also, the shacks they had opened up at the RK beach makes Vizag look a bit “Goa-ish”. Also, the latest addition to Vizag’s pride, the aircraft museum is another add-on.
I attended a lot of events that happened lately in the city like the Aruku Balloon Festival, Sounds on Sand, the Pinkathon, the food truck festival etc.
There is always something new and fun happening in this city. And trust me, my fear of getting bored here is almost gone with the opening of the new breweries in Visakhapatnam. Well, what else do you need? This city has got food, heritage spots, beach, hills and so many other places to explore. And I never thought I would say but, YAYYY! I am happy to be back to the city of destiny.”
