For all those who haven’t explored this art form of Anime yet, you are missing out on some good entertainment. Generally used in both television and film, this animation has gained popularity across the world. The computer-drawn animation art originating from Japan was first made and released in 1917. Over the years, it has developed multifold and has kept entertaining audiences worldwide. Netflix showcases many Anime movies and series. This art form also has many genres and today we will look at the drama anime movies that are sure to take you on an emotional ride.

#1 A Silent Voice

An emotional story of how bullying at school affects a grade student and she moves out of school. Years later, the tormentor sets out to make amends. The movie was released in 2016 and is being aired on Netflix for you to watch. The Japanese anime is directed by Naoko Yamada and starts, Miyu Irino, Saori Hayami, Aoi Yuki, and others in lead roles.

#2 5 Centimeters Per Second

Though an old movie, that was released back in 2007, the classic anime is a must-watch for those who are venturing into this field for the first time. A sweet story of two best friends, who are later put on a test when one of them moves to a new city. The movie is directed by Makoto Shinkai and stars, Kenji Mizuhashi, Yoshimi Kondou, Hilary Haag, and others.

#3 Violet Evergarden

Story of a young girl under the same name, who struggles to cope with the loss of her mentor and finds her way through a new job as a ghostwriter. Expressing her emotions to others she copes with her loss. The movie is directed by Taichi Ishidate and stars Yui Ishikawa, Keith Silverstein, Daisuke Namikawa, and others in lead roles. The movie was released in 2020.

#4 Flavours of Youth

The entire story is based in different cities of China and runs around the life of three young characters. Memories of one locked in a bowl of noodles, a fading beauty who is discovering her way and bittersweet first love. The anime movie is directed by Yoshitaka Takeuchi, Haoling Li, and Jiaoshou Yi Xiaoxing. The movie stars many eminent Japanese actors.

#5 In This Corner of the World

A very emotionally touching story of a young girl who lives through World War II in Hiroshima and is married to a man whom she barely knows. The struggles she endures all alone are heartbreaking.  The movie is directed by Sunao Katabuchi and stars, Rena Nonen, Yoshimasa Hosoya in lead roles.
