After raking moolah at the box office this summer, Mahesh Babu’s Bharat Ane Nenu was once again in the news recently when TDP MP Galla Jayadev used the film’s reference in the parliament to question the centre on its promises to Andhra Pradesh.
“The latest Telugu blockbuster, ‘Bharat Ane Nenu’, which means I, Bharat, is the story about a young NRI who returns to India after his father, who was a CM, dies suddenly. Bharat enters politics reluctantly and becomes a young, dynamic and beloved CM. The recurring theme in this movie is trust and his mother’s advice that Bharat keeps recalling, ‘A promise is a promise. If a man makes a promise and doesn’t keep it, he doesn’t have the right to call himself a man,’ (sic),” Jayadev had said in his speech last week.
With Bharat Ane Nenu making headlines yet again, speculations are rife that the fimmakers are planning to make a sequel of the film. Apparently, the film would track protagonist Bharat Ram’s journey post his appointment as the state’s Chief Minister.
Earlier, during the film’s promotions too, director Koratala Siva and actor Mahesh Babu expressed their interest in filming the sequel. “There were a lot of scenes that had to be removed to produce the final cut. This had to be done keeping the film’s duration in mind. Making two parts of the film, however, would not have let this happen,” said director Siva in one of the interviews.
The film was released on April 20 and went on to strike gold at the box office. In fact, it emerged as the biggest commercial success of Mahesh Babu’s career.
