While the Bhogapuram International Airport has been much talked about, VUDA is still awaiting the go-ahead for developing the layout of a residential housing complex under the Bhogapuram Airport project.
The Bhogapuram Airport is proposed to be developed at a cost of Rs 2461.27 cr at 2558 acres of land close to the Bay of Bengal. The airport will include a new runway, terminal building, apron, air traffic controller building and more. It is expected to cater to big aircrafts, including the Airbus A-380.
Two weeks ago, orders were reportedly issued by the Vizianagaram district administration and the authorities concerned, but the revenue department of Vizianagaram and Bhogapuram International Airport Corporation Limited (BIACL) are yet to give the go-ahead. The main reason behind the delay is touted to be the lack of coordination between the authorities concerned.
VUDA officials are also yet to receive from Vizianagaram authorities and BIACL information regarding the area of the layout and nature of these houses. “Without cooperation from the stakeholders, we cannot go ahead with the project. Besides, no money has been allocated to us to take up for the layout design,” a VUDA official reportedly said.
But the Vizianagaram Collector Vivek Yadav has reportedly said they’ll soon be handing out the information required to VUDA. 376 beneficiaries have been identified for the housing project, with each beneficiary getting 5 cents of the plot. The housing project is expected to come up in a few other areas of Bhogapuram, including Polipalli.
VUDA has reportedly been also asked to complete the layout design by six months. “I will soon meet Vuda vice-chairman T Baburao Naidu to discuss the project. This apart, there will be another meeting with the beneficiaries to decide what type of houses they want in the residential layout,” he said.
The district revenue authorities are supposed to hand over 2558 acres of land to BIACL but only 1402 acres of government and private land has been assigned. Within a week, officials are touted to keep 695 acres of more land ready for BIACL.
