In another event that might further deteriorate the political ties between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Telugu Desam Party (TDP), BJP MLA Vishnu Kumar Raju has lashed out at the leaders of TDP for allegedly “insulting” Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their protest in Visakhapatnam on Monday.
Members of TDP, led by party urban president and Visakhapatnam South MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar staged a unique “rail protest” in the city demanding that the centre must fulfill all the promises made to Andhra Pradesh during the bifurcation in 2014. Several members were also dressed as Prime Minister Narendra Modi to showcase their resentment against the centre.
“A protest must be conducted in an appropriate manner. We will not tolerate such activities which are aimed at maligning an individual personally. Our Prime Minister is doing a great deal for our country and insulting him in this manner is severely objectionable,” Mr. Vishnu Kumar Raju said in a press conference.
“I demand that the authorities should take strict action against these people and Prime Minister Narendra Modi too should also respond over the same,” the BJP MLA added.
Mr. Raju also claimed that TDP hired a bunch of “thugs” who could go upto any extent for money.
The relationship between TDP and BJP hasn’t been sound off-late. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and other TDP leaders have alleged that the centre has neglected Andhra Pradesh and hasn’t allocated sufficient funds for the state’s cause. The leaders from Andhra Pradesh also agitated that the Modi led government has fallen short in fulfilling the promises made to the state and has handed over a “betrayal” to the people here.
