Singer of the popular Bollywood tracks of Banjaara, Tu hi tu and Yaariyan among others, the melodious voice of Mohammad Irfan can sweep anyone off their feet.
The Beginnings
“After completing my engineering studies, I shifted to Mumbai to pursue my love for singing. My father had given me a time frame of 2 years to try out my luck in this field. Luckily, things started to fall into place and I subsequently got into some reality shows and later into playback singing, which led me to sing in movies. My journey has been good so far and God has been kind to present me with wonderful songs that have been appreciated by people.”
Teachers and influencers
“Mohammed Rafi has been my parents’ favourite singer and music teacher. So growing up listening to his songs, influenced me in a big way. Apart from Rafi saab, I try to learn from all the wonderful singers out there. Be it Kishore da, or K.K, or Sonu Nigam, every singer teaches me something new.”
Telugu connect
“I used to sing quite a lot of Telugu songs back in my school days under the guidance of my music teacher, Ramachari Sir. Since I shifted to Mumbai and started singing Hindi songs, I have lost touch with Telugu songs but would love to take them up again.”
Joy and satisfaction
“I don’t think anyone who pursues the arts, would ever be content considering the vastness of each field. There are no specified boundaries in any field which gives scope to be content with what one’s achieved as there’s always something more. But then, I am really satisfied with whatever God has given me.”
On Vizag
“I have been to Vizag many years ago for a performing at one of the events. I love the beaches here.”
