The Setting
A black and white signboard with huge lettering announces the name of the café. Through a clear glass-front wall, one can see people milling around inside the 1500 sft restaurant. An exposed brick entrance lends a quirkiness to the café that is carried through to the interiors of Double Roti too. Wooden tables accompany simple seating while the kitchen and coke counter stand on one side. Funny quotes on walls and a ceiling made of colourful, criss-crossed ropes vie for attention. Warm light shines down on the mouth-watering food being served at the café in cooking pans and miniature steel buckets, while drinks are served in mason jars and milk bottles.
The Fare
Standing true to their tagline – awesomeness between bread – is their menu filled with various kind of food. Not just limited to sandwiches, their fare consists of authentic hand-rolled thin-crust pizzas, burgers, hot dogs and more. Freshly squeezed juice, lemonades or ice tea are the perfect accompaniment to the grease you are about to order. Do not miss out on the Smores Hot Chocolate if you’re a chocoholic. Starters here feature dishes like Caramelised Onion Bruschetta or Pesto Paneer Tikka and different kinds of Maggi like Himalayan Maggi or Hoggers Maggi which are sure hits. The Sour Cream and Salsa Fries they serve are a delight. The best part? Double Roti doles out free coke refills.
Yo! Recommends
Obviously the namesake burgers here are the go-to. The simple and sweet Tiki Tiki Bun Bun is a must-try with a crispy potato tikki placed between buttered bread and topped with spicy-sweet sauce, mustard and veggies. For the carnivores, their over-the-top Barely Legal is the one to watch out for. Two beef patties, bacon and veggies with optional cheese and fried egg, is worth every calorie.
Fun Fact
Double Roti ran a ‘pay what you feel’ offer initially where people came in to taste the food and paid whatever they wanted.
