Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu visited Araku in Vizag district on 28 September to pay homage to the recently murdered politicians, Kidari Sarveswara Rao and Siveru Somu. After offering floral tributes to the deceased, the Chief Minister interacted with the concerned families and offered his condolences.
In addition to providing financial aid of Rs 5 lakh each to all the family members of the slain, Chandrababu Naidu also announced that the state would be providing a Group One job to one of Rao’s sons and a site for house construction in Vizag.
MLA Kidari Sarveswara Rao and former MLA Siveri Soma were brutally killed in a Maoist attack a few days ago in Araku of Vizag district.
It was reported that the vehicle of the leaders was stopped by the attackers, who forced them to get down. Weapons of the three security officers, comprising two 9mm pistols and 9mm carbine, were seized by the Maoists giving them no chance to open fire. Subsequently, the two leaders were taken a few meters away from the vehicle and were shot down point black with hands tied.
Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Lokesh had expressed grief at the shocking incident. “Shocked to learn about the brutal killing of Araku MLA Kidari Sarveswara Rao Garu and Ex-MLA Siveri Soma Garu. We stand with their families in this hour of grief,” Lokesh had tweeted.
