Chandrababu Naidu lays foundation to make Visakhapatnam an aqua hub

Mr. Narana Chandrababu Naidu, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, laid the foundation stone of two aquatic quarantine centers which are to be established at Nakkavanipalem village, In Visakhapatnam district. Mr. Naidu said that he believes that with the full utilization of the marine resources, and the 1,000km long coastline, coastal Andhra Pradesh can be developed into an aqua hub.

The facilities, needed to make Visakhapatnam into an aqua hub, are in the process of being developed by the Marine Products Exports Development Authority (MPEDA)  and the Andhra Pradesh State Government.

As reported by Hans India, Vannamei, Prawn Brood Stock Multiplication Centre and Aquatic Quarantine Facility will be established at Nakkavanipalem village, Visakhapatnam district.In addition to this, The Hon’ble CM also said that the State ranked second in prawn exports across the country. During the year 2016-17, India, in total, exported Rs 37,000 crore worth marine products, of which AP accounted for Rs 17,000 crore alone. And, in future, with the support of the exports, the State is looking forward to moving and achieve a greater growth.

“The main aim of the policy is to achieve 42 lakh tonne marine exports, which support the government revenues to the tune of Rs 80,000 crore by 2020,” Mr. Naidu said.

With these new facilities, the state government is ensuring high-quality shrimp with which the revenues of the fishermen would also increase.

Mr. Chandrababu Naidu also said, “The State Government is also taking several steps to stop the pollution in the blue waters and all the coastal district administrations have been directed to initiate strict action on the ones who are polluting.”
