The political temperatures seem to be on the rise in Andhra Pradesh ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state. Venting displeasure on the ‘injustice’ done to the state, CM Naidu urged the people to ‘teach a lesson’ to the PM.
Addressing the gathering at the Dharma Porata Deeksha in Anantapur on Wednesday, Chandrababu Naidu intensified his attack on Narendra Modi and asked the people to boycott his visit to the state on 6 January.
“Narendra Modi has not fulfilled any promise made to Andhra Pradesh. What will he say to the people here when he visits the state?” the state’s Chief Minister said.
Chandrababu Naidu further added, “Why is he (Modi) visiting us now? Does he want to check if we are dead or alive? We will certainly have no objection if he grants the Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh.”
Adding that the centre feared that Andhra would cross Gujarat in development, the Chief Minister demanded justice to the state before Modi comes and addresses the people here.
In what is being considered as BJP’s launching platform for the 2019 Assembly elections in the state, PM Modi will address a public gathering at the Bible Mission Grounds in Guntur.
The gathering will also mark Narendra Modi’s first participation in a public gathering in Andhra Pradesh post the ruling TDP ended its ties with BJP.
