As part of a special rath yatra being conducted in Andhra Pradesh, revered philosopher and spiritual leader Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati’s Padukas will be brought and kept in Visakhapatnam from March 31st to April 3rd for the devotees to worship them.
The organizers (Jaya Jaya Shankara TV) got a special permit from Kanchi Mutt to carry the treasured Padukas of his holiness Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati. After seeking blessings from Sri Jayendra Saraswathi, the rath yatra, which was flagged off in Ichchapuram, on March 18th on the occasion of Ugadi, has been covering several towns and cities. The Padukas will reach Visakhapatnam on March 31st and will be taken to several places before leaving the city on April 3rd. The yatra, after further covering places like Kakinada, Rajahmundry, Guntur, and Vijayawada among others, will come to an end in Tirupati in mid-May. The devotees can either take part in either ‘Paduka Seva’ or ‘Pallaki Puja’.
Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati Swamy was the 68th Jagadguru of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham. Born in 1894, he was appointed as the pontiff at the age of 13 and served the same for the remaining 87 years.
Sri Saraswati had set out on a Padayatra touring the country to teach the truth expounded by Adi Shankaracharya. Argentinian scholar Eugina Borghini wrote, “like Jesus, homeless and devoted to a life of renunciation, with his contemplation, worship, penance, and teachings, working for the welfare of mankind”.
