After three days of media frenzy and chaos about the proposed Beach Love Festival being met with protests from women’s right groups, and the YSRCP’s harsh comments about the same, the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has finally opened up. Reportedly, the CM stated that him and his government would never take a step that was not be in tune with Indian culture and traditions.
He further stated that the festival was being blown out of proportions by the opposition to tarnish the image of the state and its present government. He has politely but firmly stated that he will not backing up no matter what and the beach festival is still on the agenda as planned. He said that he would be the first person in the government to oppose any move that goes against Indian tradition and culture and that it will be kept that in mind while organising the festival. He said, “Visakhapatnam is going to be a Naval hub in the future, tarnishing its image is not correct.”
Meanwhile, the YSRCP keeps giving out statements against the festival with Jogi Ramesh saying that the TDP leaders are ‘jealous’ of YS Jagan’s growing popularity and that the CM is prostrating before Prime Minister Narendra Modi to wiggle out of cases. He accused that the CM supports the festival because his son Lokesh has grown up in such ‘bikini culture’.
The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation and Municipal Corporation of Visakhapatnam have confirmed that the state government has received a proposal from a private agency to organise an event in Feb 2017 to attract tourists.
