Visakhapatnam will soon house a Coca Cola factory. Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages Private Limited is enthusiastic about expanding its units to Andhra Pradesh. Pearl Beverages Limited – the bottling partner for PepsiCo – had also evinced interest earlier.
Visakhapatnam already has a Coca Cola bottling unit near Muralinagar. The state government has granted the bigwig incentives as per the AP Food Processing Policy 2015-2020 to set up a manufacturing facility in our city and Nellore. Reportedly, the state government specifically amended their negative list of industries to provide the required incentives.
The manufacturing unit will invest Rs 2225 crore, generate employment for 1102 people and purchase mango pulp from the state. It will manufacture all types of carbonated beverages, juices and bottled water. The units will be set up on 100 acres of land each at Nellore and Visakhapatnam. The plant will be developed in 10 years through three phases.
Pearl Beverages Limited was also accorded incentives for PepsiCo in April when it put in a proposal to invest Rs 100 crore and generate direct employment to 400 people and indirect to 800.
