Gigantic screens and other technological sophistication make the Command Control Center the latest talk in Visakhapatnam. The city of destiny is on course to emerge as one of India’s top smart cities.
The implementation of technological advancements in several aspects of governing and monitoring systems has helped it take major strides. Adding to the repertoire is the recently inaugurated Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC), built with a whopping budget of Rs 140 crore and a concept with striking similarities to a Hollywood sci-fi flick.
A part of the Smart City project, the ICCC has been hailed as the first-of-its-kind in the country. A pan-city initiative by Fluentgrid and L&T, the Command Control Centre brings world-class e-governance and real-time smart components to Visakhapatnam. The facilities here can now integrate data and services from 11 different departments in real time to help centralised monitoring.
While the display screens showcase the complex analytics and statistics, the personnel keep track of other intricate issues as the city chugs away. Smart street lighting dashboards, air quality monitoring, integration of the Water SCADA system for reservoir and city water distribution systems, centralised solid waste monitoring capabilities, tools for revenue assurance and enhanced city surveillance, green maps for urban forestry monitoring and beach are a few among the many features that will help the authorities govern and monitor the city in a smarter and more efficient way.
The centre was inaugurated by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu as District Collector Pravin Kumar I.A.S and GVMC Commissioner M Hari Narayanan explained the components to the CM.
Fluentgrid Ltd MD and CEO Murali Krishna Gannamani, while speaking to Yo!, said, “This will be a big leap in equipping the city with real-time governance. The Command Control Centre will help deliver efficient services to the city’s citizens.”
