The Cyclonic Storm ‘Gaja’ over the Bay of Bengal has unsettled the waters at Rushikonda in Vizag. With the sea turning turbulent and the waves donning an aggressive avatar, multiple precautions are being taken to prevent any consequences.
While the fishermen have already been warned from venturing into the sea, popular tourist activities at Rushikonda such as speed boating, kayaking and other water sports have been temporarily interrupted.
The sea at Sagar Nagar, Musallayapalem and other neighbouring areas, has also been in the same state. With the cyclonic storm ‘Gaja’ causing strong currents in the waters, six youngsters have also been feared drowned recently at the Yarada beach in Vizag.
As per the latest IMD bulletin, “The Cyclonic Storm ‘GAJA’ over West Central and adjoining East Central & South Bay of Bengal moved westwards with a speed of 05 kmph during past 06 hours and lay centred at 0530 hours IST of today, the 13th November, 2018 over westcentral and adjoining east central and south Bay of Bengal near latitude 13.2°N and longitude 87.2°E, about 750 km east of Chennai (Tamilnadu) and 840 km eastnortheast of Nagappattinam(Tamilnadu).”
