The low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into Cyclone Jawad which is likely to reach the north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coasts on Saturday morning. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the depression lying centred over the Bay of Bengal about 770 km south-southeast of Vizag late Thursday night is likely to move northwestwards. In view of the impending Cyclone Jawad, East Coast Railways cancelled trains operating from Vizag on 3 December, 4 December, and 5 December. The railways is taking this as a precautionary measure for the safety of passengers.

#6 The train No.18552 Kirandul -Visakhapatnam train leaving Kirandul on 05.12.2021 is cancelled
#7 The train No. 20807 Visakhapatnam-Amritsar Hirakud express leaving Visakhapatnam on 04.12.2021 is cancelled to ensure the safety of the passengers
It may be recalled that earlier on Thursday, the IMD issued an orange alert for Vizag. The district is likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall with strong gale winds. As the threat of cyclone looms over Vizag, District Collector, A Mallikharjuna stepped up the vigil. According to him, the impact of cyclone is likely to be more on Vizag. Hence, control rooms have been set up at the Collectorate to provide information to the public.
