The much talked about digital classrooms are finally here. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated them at a function organised at Andhra University’s Dr. Ambedkar Convention Hall. 5,000 schools will have digital classrooms, with 1,280 inaugurated in the first phase. 301 of those classrooms are in our district alone.
“It’s a Rs. 100-crore project and the State government and NRIs are sharing the cost at 70.30 ratio. This is in tune with the Chief Minister’s plan to make AP an education and knowledge hub and using technology for best results,” said HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao.
State government’s special representative Komati Jayaram said that the NRIs helping out are doing so out of the connect they have with their villages. They want to help improve the schools they studied at. The NRIs are also helping the state government improve the Anganwadi buildings and cremation grounds. By next year, all the 5,000 schools will have digital classrooms. MP K Haribabu himself is funding 25 schools.
The digital classrooms will consist of two computers, a projector, and a server with the syllabus from class 6th to 10th in both Telugu and English. With the fibre optic network to come up all over Andhra Pradesh, the digital classrooms will face no roadblocks. Over the course of time, all 42,000 government schools will be digitalised, said the CM.
All universities and colleges will soon have WiFis so they can start using their own tab.
