Over 50 companies and several educational institutions in Vizag took a step forward to support Digital India Campaign. Employees from several firms such as Tech Mahindra, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, Chegg India and NTPC have taken a pledge to go cashless in a meeting organised by the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) in coordination with other agencies.
The focus of the meet was to popularise digital transaction, responding to the demonetisation act by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Reportedly addressing the respective companies Joint Director and Officer-in-charge of STPI M.P.Dubey said, “They have taken a pledge to pay salaries and other payments online and ask the employees to use NEFT facility and digital wallets. This will certainly lead transformation from cash to banking economy
.”Around 15,000 people participated in the meet and contributed to the awareness programmes held at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, Visakhapatnam Port Trust, NTPC, IT and ITES units such as Tech Mahindra, Patra India BPO, AP Police and educational institutions such as Andhra University, ICAI, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Vignan Institute of Information Technology.
During these programmes the STPI officials encouraged the idea of cashless economy and digital transactions through e-presentations to promote the Digital India campaign.
