The Tours and Travels Association of Andhra Pradesh, after follow-ups with Sri Lankan Airlines for the last 6 months, has been successful in announcing international flight connectivity through a direct flight between Andhra Pradesh and Sri Lanka – Colombo.
Commencing on July 8, Sri Lankan Airlines will begin operating direct flights from Vizag to Colombo four days a week. The flight that leaves Colombo at 07:15 hrs will reach Vizag at 09:00 hrs. It will leave Vizag at 10:00 AM and reach Colombo by 12:15 PM.
The Sri Lankan team has visited Vizag 3 times for a preliminary study and discussions were held about the tourism and cargo potential from Vizag, especially in the garment, pharma and sea food exports. The trade potential has been discussed too between the port cities of Colombo and Vizag as our city is one of the top cargo handlers via sea in the world.
Travellers can now also be able to proceed to Maldives, Mauritius, Hong Kong, China, Japan and many other countries from the city via direct boarding passes issued along with the baggage check-in, with a brief stop-over in Colombo. The new flight will prove to be a gateway to many other destinations at a lower cost.
Visa for visitations can be taken on arrival or via a travel agent online as the very convenient e-visa can be accessed directly without even a visit to the embassy.
The Tours and Travels Association of Andhra Pradesh stated that they would like to acknowledge the help the visiting Sri Lankan delegation had received from MP K Hari Babu who assured them all the support they needed, ensuring rapid results regarding the direct flight.
