In what has come as yet another disheartening news to the Telugu film industry, director B Jaya passed away on Thursday night. One of the few women directors to have made a name in Telugu film industry, Jaya suffered a massive cardiac arrest breathed her last at a private hospital at Gachibowli. The 54-year-old was suffering from illness for the past few months.
The director, who made her debut with ‘Chantigadu’ in 2003, went on to make several other films including ‘Gundamma gari Manavadu’, ‘Lovely’, and ‘Vaisakham’. B Jaya also holds the credit of introducing many new faces to Telugu cinema. She is survived by her husband BA Raju, who is a film journalist and PRO, and her son Shiva Kumar.
Numerous celebrities from the industry took to Twitter to offer their condolences to the departed.
“Deepest condolences and strength to @baraju_SuperHit gaaru and family . Rest in peace jaya gaaru,” tweeted actor Nani.
Actress Rakul Preet Singh shared, “Can’t believe this happened !! Such a sweet person gone too soon .. RIP #jayagaru .. strength to @baraju_SuperHit and the entire family in this terrible time.”
“Deepest condolences for #jaya director. We lost one of the very few positive women directors of our times..Too unfortunate to have lost her so soon. Strength to @baraju_SuperHit and her family…May her soul rest in peace.#RIPJayaGaru,” tweeted actress Manchu Lakshmi.
