It’s Drink Beer Day! Held annually, this holiday is actually a day recognised by many countries around the world. We did not make it up! For all the misinformed beer-lovers, there are many more useful and practical uses for beer that don’t involve washing your insides with beer! Although, we don’t disapprove (as long as you drink within limits), it IS a day to celebrate drinking beer after all.
Love beer? You will love these alternate uses. But for the teetotalers, if all has failed and your better half still guzzles beer like there’s no tomorrow, we have a remedy. Use up their stocks of beer! Old grandma and a few quirky suggestions of how to dwindle their stocks… provided they don’t catch you red-handed and red-faced! 😉
– Shampooing hair with beer mixed in warm water make your hair soft and silky.
– Soaking your hair in beer and then lying in the sun is one of the most effective natural ways of getting highlighted layers of hair.
– Cleanse and exfoliate your skin with beer to soften it.
– Remove coffee and tea stains on rugs and carpets by rubbing a little beer on it.
– Use beer and a soft cloth to polish gold jewellery (not on stones)… make dull gold shine!
– Use beer to polish wooden furniture, keeps the wood clean, neat and healthy.
– Marinate meat in beer instead of wine to soften up tough meat and improve the taste!
– Fill containers or wide-mouthed bottles with beer about a quarter to half way up. Then bury these in your garden, such that the neck of the jar is on level with the grass. The slugs or snails will be attracted to the beer, fall in and drown. (So mean! But still.)
– Pour a bit of beer on a rusty stuck bolt to eat away the rust.
– Soak you feet in warm beer, softens the soles and acts on infections.
