Drink driving cases booked on New Year Eve

Above 200 drink driving cases were booked on Saturday night against the motorists, both two-wheelers and four-wheelers when the New Year revelry was at its peak.

Despite the forewarning given by the police, the public created nuisance on the eve. A number of bikers were seen racing on the Tenneti Park and Rushikonda stretch.

Reportedly, 27 teams were deployed from Anandapuram to Parawada, 5 teams were deployed on the beach road stretch to control the motorists. 27 alcometer were deployed to check the alcohol levels and 27 video cameras were arranged by the traffic police to film the same to be used as evidence in the court. 50 percent cases booked were against youngsters.

About 900 policemen were working continuously around the city to check drink-driving, eve- teasing and racing.
