Many of you must have gone through the rather annoying process of waiting in long queues at the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) in Visakhapatnam for getting your Learner’s Licence (LLR) or Driving Licence issued. This painstaking process, however, seems to have come to an end with the entire process being online. Thanks to this latest move, people can now get registered much easily without having to undergo the hassles of waiting in queues.
Transport Commissioner N. Balasubrahmanyam flagged off the online service for issue of licenses at trade union office and also at an automobile dealer showroom in Visakhapatnam on Saturday.
Prior to the launch of the online process, the applicants had to book slots through Mee Seva centers, visit the RTA office and wait in long queues for getting the application form or for even getting their pictures captured in the photo room.
The applicants can now log on to https://aptransport.epragathi.org/ to fill in the application form, upload the required photograph and pay the required fee to get going through the registration process. In fact, the entire system is linked to Aadhar and facilitates easier extraction of the applicant’s details.
The process, which takes less than five minutes, gives the applicant the luxury of directly giving the test after getting his/her fingerprint scanned at the center.
Mr. Balasubrahmanyam launched the online service at the L.J. Driving School, which was set up by Visakha Autorickshaw Karmika Sangam (CITU). He even appreciated CITU president K. Satyanarayana for establishing the driving school.
Later, Mr. Balasubrahmanyam also launched online service at Jayabheri Driving School of Jayabheri Automobiles in the city.
