Licence will be seized if caught thrice breaking road safety regulations

A new rule in the district might put a break to all the rash and reckless drivers. The Police have decided to strengthen the e-challan system so as to facilitate easier transactions. This step will also help in curbing the corruption involved in the cash transactions. Police have also informed that the driver’s license would be seized if he/she is caught thrice breaking the road safety regulations.

The details

Through the new e-challan system, the public will now be able to pay their fines through the Paytm facility. Card and cash transactions and will not be encouraged so as to, as mentioned earlier, to help curb the bribes.

The superintendent of police (Visakhapatnam Rural), Mr. Rahul Dev Sharma, said: “The idea is not to get the payment on the spot but to facilitate easier ways of getting the fines paid. Also, three successive fines would lead to license cancellation”. The SP also informed that the violator will have to pay the fines either through the Mee-Seva centres or the AP online website

or app. The SP feels that the new steps have received a positive response from the public as they make their job much easier.

As per the police sources, Kasimkota, Narasipatnam, Yellamanchili, Addu Road are some of the places where the number of traffic violators is high. Also, road accidents and over-loading of school auto-rickshaws also remain as major problems. The police feel that execution of such stringent laws will help in making the current scenario a better one.
