Police to take strict actions on over usage of drones for photography in Vizag

The technology of drone camera is helping the photographers to capture moments in various occasions. The usage of drone camera has increased rapidly in Vizag, especially at beach road and Jagadamba junction.

It was reported disturbing for the movement of flights while landing and take off due to the over usage of drones across the city. The photographers and wedding organisers charge Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000 additionally for drone videos or shots. Photographers were instructed by the city police not to use drones without prior permission and still, a number of photographers ignore it.

A meet has been conducted recently regarding the issue. Joint Collector and the  Airfield Environment Committee attended the meeting. The Joint Collecter strictly instructed the police officials to take necessary actions against the ones who do not abide by the norms.

A senior police official said, “One Town, Beach road stretch are the two main areas where such drone usages are high. Not only wedding photographers or event organisers, number of youth are using drones on hire to create videos recording beauty of Vizag. Though its simple to use, it has been causing severe disturbance to flights.”

“Even usage of unauthorised focus lamps, as well as balloons in the same region, is also causing a problem for flights take off and landing at Vizag airport during nights, which has been also being informed to the organisers of events”, he said.

A police official from Visakhapatnam Police Commisionerate, said, “Apart from flight movements, defense establishments nearby and public sector industrial units, so we have imposed curbs. We are also chalking out plans to seize the equipment and take action as per law if drones are used without prior permission.”
