Visakhapatnam welcomed 2018 in high spirits. Along with the beach road, many hotels and restaurants were jam-packed as people celebrated the new year’s arrival.
However, much typical of each year, many enthusiasts were booked under drunken driving cases in the city. It has been reported that as many as 321 cases have been booked under against motorists by the city’s traffic police who conducted special drives at 50 junctions in the city on Saturday night.
Cases were also booked cases against motorists who removed their silencers and blew the horns continuously thereby causing sound pollution. As many as 150 vehicles have been seized by the cops.
The police warned the motorists against violating the traffic rules and said such vehicles would be seized.
