The APEPDCL (Eastern Power Distribution Company of AP) ranked first in energy conservation, competing with 44 other distribution companies in the country. At the Energy Conservation Day celebrations that were held in Delhi, the APEPDCL CMD MM Nayak received an award for the same from the Union Minister of Power Piyush Goyal.
APEPDCL received the award due to the various energy conservation measures they’re taken in the past. They have been able to save nearly 626.18 million units of power since the 2016-2016 fiscal. Nearly 12,006 million units of power was consumed between April and November as compared to the 16,000 million units consumed previously.
The APEPDCL distributed a total of 79,20,000 LED bulbs to 39,60,000 consumers from Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East and West Godavari. 38,730 five starred fans were also distributed in Narsarpuram. Fans will be distributed in the remaining areas too. 1,93,540 LED lights were set up in five districts. These moves were crucial in them save a lot of energy.
Through the Rooftop Solar Net Metering programme, the APEPDCL saved 7,78,320 units of power per month. They synchronised 5,405 MW of power to the AP Grid through the same. They further saved 20.65 million units of power by installing 2978 solar agricultural pumps. APEPDCL incurs only 5.48% transmission and distribution losses, reportedly making it the best in the country.
