Directed by Vizagite Revanth Korukonda, the short-film Natyam won much critical acclaim. Here’s an interaction that team Yo! had with the lead-girl Sandhya Raju who was visiting the city.
Personal journey
‘Having started to learn Kuchipudi since childhood under the legendary Sri Vempati Chinna Sathyam in Chennai, I’m passionate about it. Post marriage, I settled in Hyderabad where I dabbled in theatre and modelling.’
How Natyam happened
Revanth had written a script and was looking for someone to play the main character of a dancer. He chanced upon my video and approached me. And I agreed.
Journey and response
We put in a lot of effort and were eager to share it once the film was done, so we released the film on April 29. The response was phenomenal, and till date, we have over 2 lakh views. Many called it inspiring and appreciation came from various viewpoints, talking of the film’s quality and storyline.
Future plans
I’m back to learning dance and came here to learn a piece from Smt. Bala Kondala Rao. I feel that in today’s world an artist should be able to perform in different mediums, and I hope to do so through movies, dance, modelling or even theatre.
Being in Vizag
I was here two years ago and I absolutely love the city. It’s adorable. In fact, I felt I was in another country. There’s something very western about it, and it’s not too aggressive. I’m definitely coming back.
