Oldest Park in Vizag to get Renovated Soon!

The Mudasarlova Park has always been one of the favourite picnic spots in the city. Constructed during the British rule, it is one of the oldest existing parks. But the sad state it lies in shows of neglect of many years. But VUDA now plans to give the park a facelift, decking it up with basic amenities and several new facilities.

Spread over 20 acres and located at Hanumantawaka, about 25 KMs away from the city, the park stands near the Mudasarlova reservoir. The reservoir is a source of drinking water and a tourist favourite. But tourists and people staying nearby have repeatedly complained about the failure of officials in maintaining this park.

So now in a bid to attract more tourists, VUDA has planned to work on a facelift by providing basic amenities there and new facilities will be lined up. A VUDA official stated that a request for proposal has been issued so that a consultancy can be selected, with the bid ending on April 10. After the finalisation of the agency, a master plan and model will be prepared dependent on the requirement and an estimation of the budget.

Views of the people will also reportedly be factored in before taking any steps. The park is set up in one of the most picturesque valleys with abundance of scope in attracting not just tourists but photographers too. But the lack of maintenance on top of the absence of basic amenities like drinking water and washrooms has resulted in its lost charm.
