Planning to develop an auxiliary force comprising of men of all areas is the Fire Service Department, adding onto the existing team. The volunteers will help out during fire accidents and to be of support during rescuing missions for emergencies and calamities.
As of now, a total of 110 volunteers have enrolled themselves during a meeting that was organised on Tuesday. It is the fire department’s target to form at least 2000 volunteers, said Fire Service officer J Mohan Rao.
There will be a meeting held for the security agencies soon in which 11 agencies are likely to attend and have promised to send 10 men each. In future they are intending to call NCC and NSS cadets to volunteer said the Assistant District Fire Officer Surendra Anand.
These volunteer will go through a seven-day training program in firefighting, rescue operations and first aid. The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Response and Fire Services previously held a meeting to address the issue of severe shortage of personnel and came up with this solution.
