Vizag has long awaited the flyover it was promised for. The tender for construction of flyover at NAD has been finalised after technical and financial deliberation. Tenders were invited for the flyover on July 7 this year and opened on August 21. Two city-based bidders Vijay Nirman Company and M Venkata Rao Infra participated in the bid and on Wednesday evening the tender was finalised. Vijay Nirman Company was awarded the EPC contract for the flyover at an estimated cost of 122 crore. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is likely to lay foundation to the flyover during his visit to the city on Sept. 27.
The work on the NAD flyover has already started taking shape. It starts at few meters before the NAD Junction and ends at the airport. It is in North South direction and cuts through railway station and Simhachalam Temple roads. the design and layout of the flyover is set to be very futuristic.
Looking at the details:
- No traffic signals
- All modes of transport can pass through in all four directions.
- Three different layers as per the design.
- Ground level passage for light motor vehicles. The level above that for the flyover is for heavy vehicles.
