Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu went through proposals of flyovers while he was in Visakhapatnam on Sunday. He also went over proposals for tourist projects, development of eight beaches, convention centre, auditorium, parks, stadium, etc. On the whole, all the plans, if approved, will cost Rs 2200 crore. The flyover proposal was for flyovers at NAD and Maddilapalem which cause major traffic bottlenecks.
A rotary flyover and ordinary flyover at NAD were the models presented. At a press conference later, the CM stated that the flyovers will be planned in such a way that they be integrated with the proposed metro rail project. He also said that the existing Asilmetta flyover would be put to better use by connecting it to Dwarakanagar and Sangam-Sarat junctions.
The CMR group owns three acres of site adjacent to the 10 acre government site an international level convention centre is being planned on. The CM has asked the District Collector Pravin Kumar to approach the CMR with a proposal to sell it or be a part of the project.
There are talks of the Defense Ministry handing over the aircraft carrier INS Viraat to AP after its decommission. The aircraft carrier will then be turned into a tourist attraction at Beach Road. The CM said it has to be a PPP mode project because it will involve a lot of cost.
The district will be spruced for the sports village being developed. It well be developed at Gundigudam if the Vizag Steel Plant is unwilling to provide the space required for the international sports stadium complex. At the sports complex, space will be allocated for commercial activity. Costing from Rs 200 crore to Rs 433 crore, there are four different models in the proposal.
The Mudasarlova park would be developed on a large scale with public opinion considered and on PPP mode. Kambalakonda will be developed into a major eco-tourist park, preserving its three KM natural track.
The CM reassured that Visakhapatnam will be the headquarters of the new railway zone in AP. He reviewed issues like regularisation of land for the poor while here. A housing project involving 40,120 units will come up for the poor.
Collector Pravin Kumar, MP K Haribabu, Ministers Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu, Chairperson of Zilla Praja Parishad Lalam Bhavani, MLCs, MLAs and other officials participated in the meeting.
