TDP MP Galla Jayadev, in his speech in Loksabha on Friday, invoked superstar Mahesh Babu’s ‘Bharat Ane Nenu’ in his opening statement. Jayadev said, “The latest Telugu blockbuster, ‘Bharat Ane Nenu’, which means I, Bharat, is the story about a young NRI who returns to India after his father, who was a CM, dies suddenly. (sic)”
The MP further added, “Bharat enters politics reluctantly and becomes a young, dynamic and beloved CM. The recurring theme in this movie is trust and his mother’s advice that Bharat keeps recalling, ‘A promise is a promise. If a man makes a promise and doesn’t keep it, he doesn’t have the right to call himself a man.’ (sic).”
Jayadev then said that the movie turned out to be a blockbuster as the general mood of the people reflected well in the film. “People are tired of empty promises and unfulfilled assurances. The saga of Andhra Pradesh during this Modi-Shah regime is just that,” he said.
Galla Jayadev, who is the brother-in-law of actor Mahesh Babu, is a former industrialist and joined TDP in 2014.
Earlier, the MP had also used Baahubali’s reference to highlight his point that the funds allocated to Andhra Pradesh in the Union Budget of 2018, were lesser than the film’s collections.
‘Bharat Ane Nenu’, starred Mahesh Babu as the lead and was directed by Koratala Siva. The film was released on April 20 and went on to strike gold at the box office.
