Gautam Gambhir, on Wednesday, has quit as the captain of the IPL (Indian Premier League) side Delhi Daredevils, in the ongoing tournament. The decision came in the wake of Delhi’s poor run in the league. The team has lost 5 out of its 6 games thus far and needs to win the majority of its next eight games to be in with a chance of qualifying for the playoffs.
The southpaw said that it was his call and neither the management nor the coaching staff had anything to do with it. Daredevils Coach Ricky Ponting and CEO Hemant Dua were also present at the conference. Gambhir told that he felt that this was the right time as they still have a chance to win.
