Google X, which is the ‘moonshot’ project from the Google company has inked a pact with Andhra Pradesh government for opening a research facility in Visakhapatnam.
Andhra Pradesh government puts one more notch on its venture of making Visakhapatnam an IT hub and it has inked a pact with Google X for setting up a research and development center right here. State Information Technology Minister Nara Lokesh and Google X CEO Astro Teller met in San Francisco at the company office to sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Andhra Pradesh government. This will be their first development center outside the United State of America.
The company has major plans to invent and launch “moonshot” technologies that looks to make the world a radically better place. A very happy and impressed Nara Lokesh sampled the driverless car in San Francisco. It is not just one but a host of developmental activities that Google X is working on. Visakhapatnam welcomes the giant with an interest for partnership. Google X Free Space Optical Communication Technology (FSOC) will be implemented in Andhra Pradesh through AP Fibergrid Project in 13 districts through 2000 FSOC links.
“With Google X coming to AP, the state will see revolution in communication,” said Nara Lokesh.
This coming at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Start-Up India initiative is working with Google X shows that it is the right thing at the right time.
