Vizag reviewed in their Nov-Dec’ 2016 Edition.
Heavy metal band Against Evil released their first video for their latest single ‘Stand Up and Fight!’. Yo! Vizag wanted to know all about it.
Visual abstraction
Heavy metal is a genre savoured, revered and looked up to by budding musicians all over the world, but the scenario in India begs to differ. ‘Stand Up and Fight!’ is a massive step taken by Against Evil to change that. The video’s script written by the band as a whole and directed by Siri Sri; has Srinivas Achary as the Cinematographer with fights composed by Sagar Sailesh. Getting good reviews for their music even from Europe and England, the video has a delightfully meta scene with a biker wearing a denim jacket with an Against Evil band patch.
Behind The Scenes
‘Stand Up and Fight’ was shot in two days with crowd-funding received through the ‘Indiegogo’ website and locally, with the support of fans and fellow musicians. Raising more than 3 lakhs, the band rallied for people to be in their music video through Facebook. A lot of fans and students turned up to be part of the music video that was shot at Rama Naidu Studios and the Dredging Corporation of India. Against Evil wanted to make a video the audience could connect to, something more than just a video of them performing. The video that has garnered more than 18,000 views since its release on October 19 features the story of a bare-knuckle fighter who remembers the kindness he’s shown by a stranger.
For the uninitiated
True to their musical inclination, Against Evil’s début in 2015 with ‘Fatal Assault’ created a lot of noise. With Siri Sri on Bass and Vocals, Sravan on Rhythm Guitar and Vocals, Shashank as the Lead Guitarist and Noble John on Drums, the heavy metal band has received rave reviews since their inception. Earning the title of ‘Best Emerging Band’ by Rolling Stones India, Against Evil plans to put Vizag on top of the heavy metal list.
