Launched on the occasion of Visakha Utsav, Heli-tourism has got off to a decent start in Visakhapatnam. Intended to treat tourists to the breathtaking views of our beautiful city, the prestigious project was launched by Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner Mahesh Chandra Laddha on 29 January.
After flagging off the rides, Mr Laddha took a special ride with his parents and was all praise for the city’s beauty. Also, VMRDA (Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority) Commissioner, P. Basant Kumar informed that if things go as per plan, the services would be extended to Araku.
The rides seem to be evincing good response from the citizens with many coming forward to relish the aerial views of the city
Covering some rich spectacles spread across Visakhapatnam, the ride’s route includes a tour over the sea, Thotlakonda, Madhurawada and surrounding areas. Ticketed at Rs 2400 per head for 10 minutes, the heli-tourism rides will be on until 16 January. Thambi Aviation Private Limited is operating the copter which is being used for the rides.
Heli-tourism was first launched in Visakhapatnam last year with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu flagging off the pilot project. After getting off to a rollicking start, the response fizzled out as many tourists opined that the prices were slated at the higher end.
