Every once in a while, reports keep stating that the much delayed helicopter tourism service in Visakhapatnam will be taking off shortly. VUDA has even entered into a MoU with Sky Choppers Logistics Private Limited (SCLPL) for the operation of the services.
VUDA had signed the MoU with SCLPL in 2016 for the launch of the helicopter tourism from October 2016. The deal was later almost cancelled after the plan did not take off as scheduled. VUDA had previously planned on entering a MoU with public sector helicopter service company Pawan Hans. But now, the development authority might enter into a MoU with SCLPL again.
The firm has reportedly claimed demonetisation as the reason behind the failure of launching the services on schedule. Now, they seem to be on-board with the idea. The previous MoU stated that the firm has to operate heli tourism services from VUDA Park to Kailasagiri, Bheemili and even Araku Valley. Sea planes will also operate between Amaravati to Kakinada and Vizag by the same firm, with the landing area set near Bheemili.
VUDA has constructed a helipad and three restrooms at the VUDA Park to attract more tourists for the project. If all goes well now, the project will materialise within a month.
