Puri is a coastal city in Odisha, and a popular pilgrimage centre famous for the Sri Jagannatha Swami Temple. Having a darshan at this temple is a popular reason for many to travel from Vizag to Puri. The Golden Beach, and Swargadwar Beach, in Puri are popular tourist attractions. Travellers can also visit the Konark Sun Temple which is around 50 km from Puri.
One can travel from Vizag to Puri, also known as Sri Jagannatha Dhama, by road or rail. This city is 65 km from Bhubaneshwar Airport, so one can travel by flight from Visakhapatnam to Bhubaneshwar and then reach Puri by road.
By Road:
One can travel from Vizag to Puri by road on the NH16 ( National Highway 16 ), covering around 420km. It would take around nine hours and thirty minutes depending on the traffic, and weather, conditions. Public, as well as private, bus services are available. The boarding points in Visakhapatnam are RTC Complex, Gurudwara, Madhurawada, and Tagarapuvalasa. Various A/C, and non-A/C, sleeper, and semi-sleeper, bus services leave during the day and run through the night.
By Train:
The approximate train distance is 467km from Vizag to Puri. There are around fourteen different train services available at different timings. The fastest train from Vizag to Puri is Bhubaneshwar Express (Train no: 02846 ). This is a weekly train that starts at 10:45 am on every Tuesday.
By Flight:
One can travel to Puri via Bhubaneshwar by flight. There are a couple of flights from Visakhapatnam to Bhubaneshwar at convenient timings. From Bhubaneshwar you can go to Puri via the Badshahi Road. It would take approximately one hour and forty five minutes. There is availability of both bus and taxi services for this leg of the journey.
