Here is how you can cover the distance from Vizag to Vizianagaram

Vizianagaram is a popular business destination in the Northern Andhra Region. The distance from Vizag to Vizianagaram is 67km via the National Highway 26 (NH 26). Vizianagaram city is the headquarters of the district, which includes Bobbili, Paravathipuram, Salur, and Srungavarapukota. The place is known for its rich culture and heritage from the 17th century. An important event in history “Bobbili Yudham”, an aggressive war between the Maharaja of Vizianagaram and the Raja of Bobbili took place in this town in January,1757.

On a trip from Vizag to Vizianagaram, one should visit the Tatipudi reservoir, the magnificent Ramanarayanam Temple, and the Vizianagaram Fort. Located on the river Ghostani, the Tatipudi reservoir is the dam that supplies water to Visakhapatnam. A 20-minute drive from Vizianagaram is the Ramanarayanam Temple, Korukonda, spread over 15 acres of land, this temple is designed in the shape of a bow and arrow. This holy pilgrimage is best to visit during the evenings to have a view of the colourful lightings and the fountains. The Vizianagaram fort (popularly known as Vizianagaram Kota) was built in the early 18th Century by Vijaya Rama Raju, the then king of the Vizianagaram Empire. This is a square-shaped fort with two main gates.

The Vizianagaram city annually hosts a festival called the Srimanthotsavam, or the Pydithalli Ammavaru festival. During this festival, all the public buildings, clock towers (popularly known as Ghanta Stambham) and roads in the town will be decorated. This festival usually takes place after the Dusheera Navarathri. The city is known to have one of the ancient educational institutions in the state, the Maharajah’s Government Sanskrit College, which was established in 1860 by the Pusapati rulers.

By Road:

The route from Vizag to Annavaram is mainly on NH 26 ( National Highway 26) covering 67 km; making it quite easy and convenient. It should take around one hour depending on the traffic conditions. Public, as well as private, bus services are available. The APSRTC (Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation) bus services, A/C and non-A/C, are available from 5am to midnight. During this road trip, one could see various farm fields with cotton, groundnut and ragi (millet) cultivation.

By Train:

There are a couple of train services from Vizag to Vizianagaram. But due to the short distance between these two locations, people don’t usually prefer trains.

From Vizianagaram, if one would like to catch a flight out the obvious option is the Visakhapatnam International Airport.
