The 44-year-old was dressed up in a traditional Indian attire while participating in the Hyderabad marathon. She wore a Sari and even managed to complete the entire stretch of 42 km! Now, that requires some determination. In fact, she wasn’t even wearing any sports or running shoes but completed the run with a pair of chappals. Many people were curious to know her reason and also showed interest in taking selfies with her.
In an exclusive interview with Deccan Chronicle, Jayanti said she wants to promote handloom and encourage women. She’s an avid cyclist and says that the plastic pollution concerns her in a grave way. On a lighter note, Jayanti said that may be she should run wearing a sari made up of plastic covers to create awareness.
In fact, she wanted to run barefoot but didn’t choose to do so as the stones hurt her feet. Jayanti has applied to win the title of the ‘fastest marathon runner in a sari’.
